Mid-century--probably late 1940's--large rattan & naugahyde barstool. 32 inches from floor to top of the seat, and the seat is fully 16 inches across, so this will seat a large man.
Very sturdy and totally intact, with only three tiny pin nicks in the seat, and with a very few scattered white paint flecks on the rattan back rest--probably from a wall paint job where they did not protect the furniture well enough. I don't know the best way to remove the white paint flecks, so I will leave that up to the buyer, and I have reduced the price accordingly, as this mid-century piece is worth more than I am asking for it.
I do think that this is late 1940's rather than 1950's because of the chartreuse color of the seat, which was more of a 1940's color--as 1950's colors tended more to pink, turquoise, pale yellow or a more pastel and softer color of green, plus the larger size and style which fit in better with the larger room sizes of the 1940's.
This piece has been in air conditioned storage for over the past 10 years, in a non-smoking household, and all that I've done to it to take these pictures is wipe it down with a damp paper towel to take the dust off.
Located near Old Town and Cross City, about an hour's drive from either Gainesville or Ocala. But if you are a collector or a re-seller who knows how to deal with the finishes, then this is a very good price for this mid-century piece, as it's in excellent condition, so well worth the drive.
